Who is Robert?

He works with people seeking deeper understanding of themselves and their difficulties, and helps them find greater meaning, satisfaction, and healing in their lives and relationships. He uses both traditional and psychedelic assisted psychotherapies.

Robert is fully licensed in Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and Maine. He meets in person in Boston and works virtually with clients in all of these states.

Education, Training, and Experience

Robert holds a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Boston College. In addition, he has completed postgraduate psychotherapy training fellowships at Harvard Medical School/ Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and at the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy. He has extensive training in Internal Family Systems, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, MDMA Assisted Psychotherapy, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

A Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor since 2008, Robert completed his training at the UMASS Medical School Center for Mindfulness. He serves as an instructor in Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s “Mind the Moment” corporate wellness program. Having studied Buddhist ethics, psychology, and meditation for more than 25 years, he has sat more than 250 days on silent meditation training retreat in the Theravadan vipassana, Rinzai Zen, Vajrayana, and non-sectarian non-dual traditions. He currently studies Vajrayana Buddhist meditation as a student of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche.

Robert completed training as a psychedelic psychotherapist with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in MDMA Assisted Psychotherapy for PTSD under Michael and Annie Mithoefer, and in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) with Dr. Phil Wolfson at the Ketamine Training Center. Robert currently apprentices, trains, and practices in the psychedelic assisted medicine tradition of Dr. Ralph Metzner.

He has taught Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy and its integration with IFS throughout the United States, in collaboration with Dr. Phil Wolfson, Dr. Richard Schwartz, and Dr. Gita Vaid.  Robert provides intensive experiential training in KAP to clinicians in the Boston area, and serves as a private supervisor and consultant to clinicians throughout North America.

Robert has served on the adjunct faculty of Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies and Boston College’s School of Social Work, where he taught clinical classes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Adult Psychological Trauma. He has led trainings at Harvard University, Cambridge Hospital, the Massachusetts Association of Psychoanalytic Psychology, and the New England Society for the Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation.
